Epic Name:Create a unified Single Sign-on (SSO) system for general users
A unified SSO (Single Sign-on) system needs to be created and organised for GekkoFyre Networks. At present, there are a dozen differing, competing authentication mechanisms that users/administrators/staff must all independently sign-up towards and keep track of when concerning usernames/passwords in order to enjoy all the benefits of what GekkoFyre Networks has to offer. These include the following, along with possibly more as time goes on:
- Mastodon (The Drake Network)
- Zimbra Hosted Email
- Jira Server
While it is true that not all of these pieces of infrastructure can possibly be made to work with each other, it will be possible to integrate a good majority of them with the right amount of time invested into this project. A possible solution to this problem is making use of the Atlassian Crowd server that we already have setup and partially functional (with regards to Jira Server and Confluence). This could be a jumping point to getting more of our infrastructure working together.
In either case, such a project is going to be a large one and quite complex at that. Possibly expensive too.
